THE LONG VERSION

After studying for a degree in English Literature, freelance copywriter and editor Carly started her career at Net-a-porter.com in the Personal Shopping team. She had the tough job of trying on all the clothing before it was uploaded to the site each week, and wrote ‘Fit Notes’ for the product pages to help customers make sure they ordered the right size.

After two and a half years at NAP, she left to do a stint at ELLE magazine as Head of the Fashion Cupboard. Whilst she was there, she assisted on many shoots for celebrities such as Diane Kruger. A freelance styling career followed, and she worked for publications, television programmes and brands including Stella Magazine (The Telegraph), Style Magazine (The Sunday Times), The Saturday Times Magazine, Twiggy’s Fashion Exchange (BBC), House of Fraser, Canon, Nivea, Head and Shoulders and The British Heart Foundation.

Next, she was head hunted by luxury sales site Cocosa.com to be their Visual Merchandising Editor. Fusing her styling and writing skills, Carly headed up styling content, product photography and editorial imagery. She managed an external studio, co-ordinating and styling twice weekly shoots and wrote all the styling-related editorial for the site.

After Cocosa, Carly joined luxury fashion and interiors retailer Couturelab.com as their Site and Content Editor. She headed up a team of copywriters and the in-house photography studio. Whilst she was there, she was also instrumental in the launch of luxury gifting website Giftlab.com.

Following many years working in womenswear and interiors, Carly was offered a role at luxury childrenswear retailer AlexandAlexa.com as their Senior Online Editor. As well as writing, editing and designing content for the brand’s blog, Life and Style, she commissioned features from bloggers and influencers. Setting the tone of voice for the business, she also wrote and created SEO-friendly and on-brand content for homepages, email newsletters, category pages and print assets. During her time at AlexandAlexa, she grew traffic to the blog by 150%.

Carly then joined niche lifestyle communications agency Mackie PR as Associate Director, heading up content creation. Working with a broad range of brands in the interiors and children’s sectors, Carly wrote and edited for several of their client’s blogs and helped to design beautiful and engaging press releases, media bulletins, gift guides, lookbooks and social media assets.

After Mackie PR, Carly was the Fashion Editor at Endource.com. In this capacity she produced beautiful edits for the site across womenswear, menswear and childrenswear. She also wrote compelling copy for the site, social media channels and email newsletters.

Carly is currently the editor at Absolutely Mama magazine, a stylish magazine for modern mums. In this role, she produces beautiful pages to create the monthly print title and also contributes content to the Absolutely Mama online platform.
